Initially we had some problems with the organizer (Wayan Juliana), but after talking to him about it, he tried - and did - do things differently, to make us more satisfied. Our second driver and Tour guide (named Wayan Sudira) spoke english Very well, was Very polite, kind, patient and told a lot about Bali culture to us. I really got to love that man after spending days with him on trips. The other drivers were kind too by the way, just spoke english not that well. Overall a reliable service, but I encourage everyone if there is something they are not happy about, say it, talk about it so that the “Boss”/organizer could find some solution.
I promise you that you are in excellent hands with Wayan and his team. I used a few other companies and none compare. You are well looked after, knowledgeable guide with good conversation and personal touch. Next time I come to Bali, Im only booking with Wayan. Tours worth doing: 1. Jeep up Mount Batur at sunrise ( basic breakfast). Wear warm clothes. 2. Trunyan Village and cemetery (remember to be respectful. Please note ladies with their monthly cycle are unable to visit due to cultural codes). Take some smaller notes to give to elderly ladies who ask for money in village. Many live in extreme poverty. 3. Lovina dolphin tour- wear swimsuit. You can hang from boat to see underwater. If you have snorkel mask take it. If not, a basic one will be provided. It’s so exciting seeing your first dolphin of the day. These dolphins look much smaller than dolphins I see in Australia. 4. Nusa Penida - make sure you find out if it’s a tour to see sights or for snorkeling. I’m sure if you want tailored made tour they can do. Solo travellers don’t fear. You won’t be left out, whilst you pay a higher rate you are not left out. Highly recommended tour company for Bali.
Wayan Juli designed a private tour that provided us with insights into the Balinese people and way of life. This was certainly different from the superficial options from other mass market operators. Each stop in the itinerary shed light on specific characteristics of the local culture, traditions and beliefs that proved interesting and intriguing. He had also prepared the traditional clothes needed to enter the temple grounds. We enjoyed the intricate costumes and movements of the Barong dance show. The visit to the Gunung Kawi Sebatu and Gunung Kawi Tampaksiring temples allowed us to learn more about their central roles in Balinese culture. Wayan provided further immersion through participation in a purification and cleansing ritual in the Gunung Kawi Sebatu temple. Unfortunately we didn't want to risk the combination of wet weather and cold spring water. Both temples had magnificent designs and an air of serenity about them, with few tourists about. Wayan invited us to his family home to understand how the Balinese family traditions and community practices interacted with the individual and way of life. He also tried to get us a view of the traditional cock fighting in one of the temples and a taste of local durian.
We booked a four-day tour in August with Wayan Julez and it was one of the highlights of our trips. He was always punctual and really friendly. We would really recommend booking a tour with him , and if someday we go back to Bali, we won’t hesitate to contact him.
